Ensuring the safety of drinking water at public events

In Uzbekistan, the Second National Training 'Ensuring Water Safety for Mass Events' was held within the framework of the P87 PRECA Project "Preparedness and Response for Mass Gatherings and other Health Threats in Central Asia". This EU project is implemented by the International Science and Technology Cneter with the aim of preventing the impact of infectious and chemical threats of mass events on public health in Central Asia, involving ministries and healthcare sectors.

On May 15-16, 2023, the Second National Training 'Ensuring Water Safety for Mass Events' was conducted at the Center for Professional Development of Medical Personnel of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of Project 87. The workshop was attended by 32 specialists from laboratories and experts of the sanitary-epidemiological service from 12 regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, who are directly responsible for providing the population with high-quality and safe water.

The workshop was conducted in the form of lectures and practical sessions by trainers trained in April 2022 during Train the Trainer course held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for representatives from Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan).

The objectives and tasks of the seminar were achieved. The international experience gained, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills will be further utilized by national specialists in their practical activities to ensure the provision of safe and high-quality water, aiming to preserve the health of the population. At the end of the training, certificates were awarded to all participants.
