A National Training Workshop "Ensuring water safety during mass events" was held in Uzbekistan as part of the PRECA project, April 17-18, 2023

The National Training Workshop was held on April 17-18, 2023, at the Center for the Development of Professional Qualification of Medical Workers of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of studying international experience in the field of water safety. The seminar was attended by 25 laboratory specialists and experts of the sanitary and epidemiological service, responsible for ensuring water safety, from 12 regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Methodological recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic "Ensuring water safety during mass events" were approved in January 2023.

Foreign experts participated in the seminar:

John Holly - international expert on water safety;

Nargizakhon Usmanova - Regional Coordinator of UNICRI, EU CBRN CoE. 

The seminar was conducted by national trainers:

Zaredinov D.A. - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Chief Radiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

Salomova F.I. - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Environmental Hygiene of the Tashkent Medical Academy;

Usmanov I.A. - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Physical Factors of the Research Institute of Sanitation, Hygiene and Occupational Diseases;

Li M. V. - Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Scientific and Research Testing Laboratory of CRPQM, Regional Co-Chair of the Water Safety Working Group of Project P87 PRECA.

The trainers were trained in April 2022 at the Train the Trainer courses of the PRECA Project, which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for representatives of Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan).  The goals and objectives of the workshop were achieved. The international experience gained, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills will be used by national specialists in practical activities to ensure water safety in the country.
